Record-breaking duo smash tournament scoring record and 18-hole record 

Davis Love III and son, Dru Love, shot a record-breaking final round 56 (-16) on Sunday, to seal a three-shot victory over Team Goosen, Team Cink and Team Daly and claim their second tournament victory at the 2018 PNC Father/Son Challenge with a championship record 118 (-26) total.

On a low scoring morning, which saw no less than three teams hit to the top of the leaderboard on the front nine, Team Love, who were earmarked as pre-tournament favourites, quickly stamped their authority on the tournament, firing 27 strokes on the front nine (-9).

The original big-hitting American, John Daly, teamed up with son, Little John Daly, to tie the tournament course record with a flawless round of 59 (-13), taking the halfway lead at the 2018 PNC Father/Son Challenge.

 

Playing in their third PNC Father/Son Challenge, Team Daly, who wore their customary matching attire, made the turn in 31 strokes before adding gains at Nos. 10 and 11. A solitary back-nine par on the 12thhalted their progress temporarily before six successive gains from the 13th saw them break the magic 60 mark, tying the championship course record held by Team Cabrera (2017) and Team Singh (2015).

Three-time former champion Bernhard Langer returns to The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Orlando for his 14th straight appearance at the PNC Father/Son Challenge with a new partner in tow.

Your first PNC Father/Son, what have you heard about the event and what made you want to take part?

For years I have watched on TV and have heard from many TOUR professionals how much they have enjoyed the event. Everyone is competitive, but this event is about sharing time with family and loved ones. Usually Dad and I spend time on the course where he is helping me with my game- I thought it would be fun to team up and enjoy the time together.

Pro-Golfer Jack Nicklaus says tournament is a thrill to play

ORLANDO, Fla., April 19, 2018 – IMG and NBC Sports today announced that The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. has extended its contract as title sponsor of the PNC Father/Son Challenge, the tournament that pairs the games’ legends alongside their sons, daughters and grandchildren.

PNC’s multi-year extension as title sponsor keeps the PGA Tour Challenge Event in Orlando reflecting the bank’s commitment to Central Florida. PNC has served as title sponsor of the tournament since 2012. The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club Orlando, Grande Lakes will continue to play host to the PNC Father/Son Challenge. The 2018 PNC Father/Son Challenge will take place Friday-Sunday, Dec. 14-16, with television coverage on Golf Channel and NBC.
