Team wrist bands support Healthy Families Orange; Fans Wearing the Winning Team’s Band on Sunday will have the Opportunity to take a Photo with the Champions
ORLANDO, Fla. (December 12, 2014) – The PNC Father/Son Challenge, in association with Under Armor and Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, is launching a new program for charitable fundraising that bonds players and fans at the PNC Father/Son Challenge, Dec. 13-14, 2014, at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Orlando, Grande Lakes in Florida.
Each of the 20 Major champion/family member teams will have their own wrist band color and team social media hashtag. Players, caddies, families, volunteers and fans who make a donation at the entrance or the Under Armour Pride Pavilion adjacent to the 18th hole to support their favorite team during the tournament will receive a team wristband. All proceeds from the wristband purchases will go directly to the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children Healthy Families Orange program.
Fans wearing the winning team’s band on Sunday will have the opportunity to take their photo with the champions in front of the leaderboard.
“We’re very excited to bring this unique charitable component to our tournament,” said Teo Sodemon, Tournament Director. “It enables fans to cheer on their favorite Major Champion family team, while raising much-needed funds for the families of Central Florida.”
Fans are also encouraged to take photos and post to social media using the team hashtags (e.g. #TeamCink, #TeamNicklaus).
Healthy Families Orange is a program which prevents child abuse and neglect, increases the rate of childhood immunizations, reduces family stress levels and reduces the incidence of repeat teen pregnancy in target communities in Orange County. Each participating family is paired with a professionally-trained family support worker who conducts in-home visits focused on building trust with parents, supporting parents emotionally, improving communications skills and teaching skills for coping with stress. Healthy Families Orange, which is closely monitored and well-researched, has demonstrated a near 100% success rate in preventing abuse and neglect in Central Florida.
In addition to the wristband program, the PNC Father/Son Challenge donates annually to the Healthy Families Orange program. On Wednesday, Dec. 10 in Ritz-Carlton Ballroom, PNC presented a $150,000 donation to the Arnold Palmer Medical Center and on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 6 p.m. there will be a special graduation ceremony for the Health Family Orange participants.
Under Armor is proud to support this charitable program and fans are encouraged to gather for photos, meet and greets, prizes and a cocktail hour at the Under Armor Pavilion featuring Rocco’s Tacos located adjacent to the 18th hole.
The PNC Father/Son Challenge is operated in partnership by IMG and NBC Sports.
