Volunteers Fill Backpacks with Food and Hearts with Hope

In the United States, about 69% of elementary school children qualify for federal free or reduced lunches. That’s about 16 million children across the country facing daily food insecurity. That’s where Blessings in a Backpack comes in. The non-profit organization provides food-filled backpacks to school children ages K-5 each Friday to take home over the weekend. Thanks to PNC, during the Father/Son Challenge tournament week, volunteers get together to stuff backpacks, which are then delivered to the Callahan Center.
